The Democratic Party has national, state and local branches.
- On a city-wide level, the St. Louis City Central Democratic Committee is comprised of a Committeeman and a Committeewoman from each ward in the city.
- On the ward level, the Committeepeople lead a Democratic ward organization.
The Committeepeople are responsible for
- educating voters about issues and candidates
- leading the candidate endorsement process
- providing support to endorsed candidates
- getting out the vote for Democrats
- representing the ward on a city-wide level
- coordinating with city / state / national Democratic Party efforts
Committeewoman is a volunteer, unpaid position.
